About STEAM Education
STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, which has been applied in the education system of our country under different names in the past, is a learning-teaching approach that focuses on the individual learning type and interest of the student. This learning education can appeal to students from preschool to higher education.
While STEM focuses on scientific concepts, STEAM does not adopt to realize it in a process that makes use of the added “A” ie art, humanities, language, dance, drama, music, visual arts, design and media.
Collaboration, communication, research, problem solving, critical thinking, creativity are the elements emphasized by STEAM education method, and in today’s world, interests are the qualities that should be possessed for some valuable people regardless of their career duration. In science education, lessons are handled independently from each other, while in STEAM education, technology is emphasized and different disciplines are linked with each other. It focuses on developing forward thinking skills and connecting learning in the classroom with the real world, going beyond exam performance.
