Description
Unit squares material is designed for the purpose of contributing to visual learning.
A unit square is the square that all its sides are measured as 1 unit. Unit squares can perform operations such as planar area, square, volume calculation, four operations with natural numbers, percent, fraction, etc
Unit squares can be used for calculating the area of planar region. For that, the whole squares item covers should be counted, and the partial squares should be counted and diveded into 2. When two results are added, the conclusion is the area item covers by unit square kind.
Example 1: The area of the following planar shape is 7 units.
Example 2: You can do the following operation with unit square material as seen below.
5 + 4 = 9
5 unit squares are placed on the unit square table. Then 4 more squares are added. The result is 9 unit square in total. As for the subtraction process, if 4 squares are removed from 9 squares, it can be seen that 5 squares left.
Example3: The following operation can be done with unit square material.
3 x 6 = 18
3 x 6 means 3 particles of 6. 3 particles of 6 unit square are placed on the unit square table. The result is 18. As for the dividing operation, for instance, dividing 18 into 3, when the unit squares are divided into 3 pieces equally, it shall be seen that each group has 6 pieces of unit square. The result of the operation is 6.
Example4: The following operation can be done with unit squares material.
